Referral business is great. It’s a win-win for you and the person referring you business. But as always in any relationship, things can go awry. You need a contract in place to formalize your referral relationships which will outline how much you’ll pay for each referral, how you’ll pay, and when you’ll pay. It’s important to give yourself a contractual buffer in the event a referral doesn’t convert, too. You don’t want to be stuck paying referral fees for junk referrals!
